Clerkship program에 지원하려다 보면, Curriculum Vitae를 요구하는 곳이 있다. 우리나라에서 작성해본 서류는 아니기에, 무슨 내용을 어떻게 작성해야하는지 몰랐다. 그래서 구글링 등을 통해 정리한 Curriculum Vitae 쓰는 방법을 글로 올린다.

Curriculum Vitae : The course of one's life/career

- 목적 : provide a concise overview of academic background and accomplishments

- 최근에서 과거 순으로, 어떤 기관에서 교육을 받고 활동했는지 작성한다. 구체적으로, 명료하고 일관성 있게 작성한다.

- pique the interest of the reader, get him/her to take a closer look at you and your other application materials, and ultimately invite you for an interview.

-Clarity : use of concise, unambiuous language and formatting options

-Consistency : spacing, formatting, fonts가 같아야함.

A note on the styling: be consistent with where and how you place the title of the position and the name of the company/organization. Makes it easier for the reader to follow

 

Medical CV

The goals of a medical student CV:

• Provide a well-organized overview of your major academic and extracurricular achievements related to your medical career
• Highlight the most relevant activities and skills you bring to a residency program and other opportunities for which you are applying (research, away rotations, scholarships, etc.)

Your CV writing goal: a well-organized document that is free of formatting, spelling, and grammatical errors. Make your CV easy to read.

CV Writing Tips:

When deciding if you should include an experience on your CV, ask yourself:

• Does this information present a useful representation of who I am as a medical professional?
• Will this information help me get selected for an away rotation, residency interview, research opportunity, or scholarship?
• Would I find this information relevant if I were a resident or faculty reader of my CV?
• If the answer is no, leave it out

Before submitting your CV:

• ask several people to proofread and edit
• include a professional mentor to review with an eye towards your residency application
